A New Adventure....

Today was my first day as the "official host" of News-Talk 1450 KFIZ's Breakfast Club program which airs from 6am to 9am every weekday morning and also the extended "After Breakfast Program." The program has been the wake up call for many people in Fond du Lac for almost 86 years and many legends have sat in the chair. Legends such as Joe Goeser, Ron Harvey, Doug McGrath are just of few of those that have graced the airwaves at KFIZ over the years. When you talk about KFIZ and some of the great personalities, Jerry St. John, the man I'm replacing, will be right at the top of the list with those men. In a way it's a bitter sweet day because I'm replacing a man who has been hosting the show for 12 years and is a radio icon our community and he's a good friend. Jerry is leaving for various reasons, but they are not health related and he's not retiring so you'll still see him around town. I've hosted the show many times while Jerry was on vacation, but it was different today as I guess I no longer had to say "I'm Wade Bates, filling in for Jerry St. John on the Breakfast Club." Again, I appreciate everything Jerry has done for KFIZ, and I'll do my part to continue to put together a quality show that delivers local news, weather, sports and hopefully a little fun to your morning. Its a huge responsibility to be on in the morning at KFIZ. It's been a staple of Fond du Lac since 1922. I really take pride in the letter K-F-I-Z and what they mean to Fond du Lac and the history of radio. It should be a fun ride, and I would love to have you wake up with me for the next 50 years!
