Fond du Lac Athletic Hall of Fame – Class of 2012
The Hall of Fame committee is pleased to announce the 2012 Athletic Hall of Fame Class. These individuals are nominated by community members and voted in by the Hall of Fame committee. These seven individuals will be introduced during half-time of the September 21 football game at home versus Neenah at 7:00 p.m. The Hall of Fame banquet will be held on Saturday, September 22 at the Elks Club. (Additional details about the banquet will be released at a later date.)
Jennifer Butzen - Jennifer was a 2-sport athlete participating in track and field and cross-country during her time at Fond du Lac High School from 1988-1991. Her school records in the high jump and 100-meter hurdles still stand. She attended UW-Miwaukee and was on the track and cross country teams.
Dallas Diener – Dallas was a 9-time letter winner while at Fond du Lac High School from 1997-2000 in basketball, football, and golf. He was a medalist at the State golf meet in 2000 and part of 4 team conference championships in basketball (3) and golf (1). Dallas attended UW-Parkside in 2001 on a golf scholarship and then transferred to a golf academy in California after 2 years.
Dean Haase – Dean was a 7-time letter winner in football, basketball, and baseball while at Fond du Lac High School from 1985–1987. He earned All-Conference and All-State honors in football and baseball. Dean holds season records in football (passing yards), basketball (assists), and baseball (stolen bases). Dean went on to play baseball at UW-Oshkosh and earned All-Conference honors and played in Division III World Series. Dean was drafted in the 32nd round by the Chicago White Sox in 1991.
Robert J. King, Jr. – Robert was an 8-time letter winner while at Fond du Lac High School from 1951-53 in track, football, and basketball. He earned All-Conference honors twice in track, was elected to the Wigwam All-American football team, and, at one point, held multiple school records in basketball, football, and track. Robert attended Northwestern University and was a 2 year starter on the football team and led the team in kick-off and punt returns.
Jim MacKenzie – Jim was a 10-time letter winner in hockey, football, and basketball at Fond du Lac High School from 1997-2001 and a WIAA Scholar Athlete. He earned 6 All-Conference honors in hockey (3), baseball (1), and football (2) and was named to the All-State football team twice. He was part of 4 team conference championships in hockey (3) and football (1). Jim was also a member of the 2000 State Champion baseball team. He went onto to play 2 years of football for the Badgers and earned his degree from Madison.
Julie Myers – Julie was a 7-time letter winner in volleyball, basketball and track while attending L.P. Goodrich High School from 1978-1981. She was All-Conference twice in volleyball and once in basketball. She was the 1980 state champion in shot putt and had the 7th best throw in the nation. She held multiple school records in volleyball and track. She was part of 5 conference championship teams in volleyball (3) and track (2). She went on to UW-Madison where she was a 6-time letter winner in volleyball, track, and rowing crew.
Dale Stahmann – Dale lettered in wrestling, track, and football while attending L.P. Goodrich from 1985-1988. Dale was an individual conference champion 3 times in track (2) and wrestling (1) and 3-time state qualifier for the discus throw with a high finish of 3rd place. He still holds the school record in the discus throw (177’6”). In 1988, Dale was the state runner-up in wrestling and went on to the USA wrestling nationals that year and placed third. He was part of 3 conference championship teams in wrestling (2) and track (1) and was on the 1987 State Championship football team. Dale went on to UW-Whitewater where he was part of 5 conference championship teams in football (2) and wrestling (3).
