October is National Sausage Month and the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council is celebrating with its wealth of sausage resources including itssausage glossary and guide to sausage varieties, culture and cooking. Americans eat more than $3 billion worth of dinner sausages alone and Sausage consumption is on the rise in the U.S. with sales up more than 3% over the last year.

The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council is also hosting a contest on its Facebook page to find the most creative sausage recipe that can be made in 20 minutes or less. Whoever submits the best one will win a $250 gift card for their favorite sausage, second place will win a $100 gift card and third place will receive a $50 gift card. All winners will receive a National Hot Dog and Sausage Council t-shirt and have their recipes featured on the NHDSC All Recipes page. Entries should be sent to contest@hot-dog.org  by Friday October 17.
