Breakfast Club - Show #2 - 4/11/08

6am-7am:

6:18am: KFIZ Meteorologist Marv Halowinski says northern Wisconsin has Winter Storm Warnings out and northern Illinois had temps in the 50s. Here in Fond du Lac we'll see a few inches of rain and some snow, but not much that will stick around. He says maybe a 70 degree day next week....YEAH!

6:25am: Celeb News: American Idol is releasing a stamp series featuring the shows winners...Access Hollywood Reports that TiVo has come up with a way to figure out who will be voted off of American Idol by measuring audience reaction second by second during the show...CBS has cancelled "Secret Talents of the Stars."

6:40am: Today in History: In 1890 The Elephant Man John Merrick died at the age of 29...Elvis got his first Gold Record for Heartbreak Hotel in 1956...In 1947 Jackie Robinson made his debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers.

6:55am: KFIZ News Quiz Winner: Alice Fields correctly knew that the winner of The Masters golf tournament wins a green jacket.

7am-8am

7:18am: Bridget Zenner and Carol McCarthy stopped by to talk about a fund raising benefit for Jeff and Janet Hopper on Saturday night at the Eagles Club in Fond du Lac from 4pm to 10pm. The husband and wife are both battling cancer and the event is there to help raise funds to pay medical bills. There will be a raffle, silent auction, music, food and a whole bunch of fun. The band Red Fish is playing from 4pm to 6pm. For more information you can call Bridget Zenner at 920-922-0461 or Carol McCarthy at 920-922-1644. Tickets are 1 for $6 or 6 for $30.

7:25am: CW Smith Birthday Time...This week's winner of a Culvers frozen custard cake was Cody Krupp. On December 26th, CW Smith Jewelers will award a $500 gift certificate to one lucky winner!

7:52am: A guy in Louisiana lost his bid to wear a skirt in public. His local town passed an law to stop having kids wearing saggy pants in public and his skirt didn't make the cut. He said he wore a skirt for heat rash, but was denied an exemption from the city council because they say it was just way too short. Bob Nelson also brought a story from his home state of Michigan about a burglar who broke into a house but fell asleep and was arrested.

7:55am: KFIZ meteorologits Marv Halowinski was not drinknig at 6:20am when he said we would see 70 degree next week. He said he holds by his prediction. We'll still see rain and sleet this weekend though.

8am-9am

8:50am: Sabish's National Junior Honor Society will be having a brat fry at the Pick N Save on Pioneer Road today, Saturday, and Sunday. The kids are raising money for their trip to Washington, DC. Also did you know that President Bush has an Ipod. He says his is loaded up with Alan Jackson, the Beach Boys, and Aretha Franklin. Now, I had felt like technology had passed me by since I can't figure those things out....I guess if President Bush has one, then I'll have to learn too.

After Breakfast 9am-9:30am - Behind The Badger with Officer Steve Olson

Today Steve talked about the Fond du Lac Police Explorers Program. The next meeting is set for May 13th at 7pm at the Fond du Lac Police Department. The program is open to people aged 14 to 21. For more information contact Officer Olson at 322-3746.
