near the Costa Rica-Panama border are telling police they just
wanted to buy some bananas. Police say the two appeared to be
nervous when their car was stopped by police over the weekend. So
officials searched the vehicle and found the cash in a briefcase.
The men apparently told officials they were banana brokers. But
police are holding them on possible money laundering charges.
Bananas cost about $1.65 a pound in Costa Rica.

HEALTHCARE COSTS
Study: Health costs to rise nearly 10 percent
NEW YORK (AP) - Employer health care costs are poised to rise
almost 10 percent this year and nearly that much again in 2009
according to an industry report released today. That's more than
double the annual inflation rate.
The study by PriceWaterhouseCoopers predicts that medical costs
will increase 9.9 percent in 2008 and an additional 9.6 percent in
2009.
The head of the PriceWaterhouseCoopers Health Research Institute
says "Health care providers, insurers and employers will have to
monitor medical costs carefully if we are to avoid a resurgence of
the double-digit annual increases seen in the past."
The report identifies a hospital building boom and the expenses
insured people are paying for the uninsured as two factors driving
the increase.
