6:25am: Enteratinment News: PBS is bringing back The Electric Company...Survivor's finale on Sunday night was the lowest final ever for the CBS show as just 13 million watched...Jimmy Fallon will take over for Conan O'Brien as host of NBC's LateNight program. O'Brien will take over as host of The Tonight Show later sometime in the next year.

6:40am: The KFIZ History Vault: In 1607 the first English settlement was established at Jamestown, Virginia...In 1918 the first U.S. Airmail postage stamp was issued...In 1930 the only known recorded case of death by hailstone took place in Lubbock, Texas...In 1981 Pope John Paul II was shot twice in St. Petersburgh Square in Rome

6:50am: KFIZ News Quiz: Fred Bergman was today's winner. He correctly knew that Fondy Boys Basketball Coach Adam Zakos scored 23 points in last nights' charity basketball games against the Green Bay Packers Green Machine.

7:25am: Celeb Birthdays: Singer Darius Rucker of Hootie & The Blowfish is 42...Former NBA Bad Boy Dennis Rodman is 47...Stevie Wonder is 58...Actress Bea Arthur is 85.

7:50am: a college student in Des Moines, Iowa faces charges for allegedly assaulting a police officer with M&M candies. When officers were questioning the Drake University student's friend, the man apparently threw the candy at the officer. He was arrested and then released on $1,000 bail.

8:03am: Apple, Inc says that their online stores in the U.S. and U.K. are sold out of the iPhone. They say that's a sign that the new generation of phone is ready to launch. It will feature faster Internet surfing speeds. Apple says that brick and mortar stores still have some iPhones in stock.

Mailing a letter went up a penny to 42 cents on Monday. If you had purchased the "forever" stamp they are still good without having to buy additional postage. Postage rates are expected to go up again in about a year.
