Breakfast Club - Show #28 - 5/20/08

6:04am: DETROIT (AP) - Chrysler is extending for another month its offer to subsidize customers' gasoline prices for three years. The deal caps gas at $2.99 per gallon with Chrysler paying the rest. It was to expire early next month, but it is now to go
through July 7th. Chrysler says the deal is popular with consumers and has
increased traffic to its web site by 25 percent.

6:17am: Karl's Weather....Partly sunny today with a high of 64....Cloudy tonight with a low of 41....Wednesday: Sunshine with a high of 63.

6:40am: The KFIZ History Vault: In 1993 more than 80 million people watched the final espisode of Cheers...IN 1932 Amelia Earhart started her solo flight across the Atlantic...In 1927 Charles Lindbergh departed from Long Island in the world's first solo flight across the Atlantic...In 1916 the Saturday Evening Post published their first Norman Rockwell cover...In 1830 the fountain pen was patented by Dr. Hyde of Reading, Pennsylvania.

6:50am: KFIZ News Quiz Winner: Lee Buechel of St. Peter knew that gas was about $3.85 per gallon in Fond du Lac. For knowing that he wins a $25 gift card.

7:04am: NEW YORK (AP) - A new survey suggests that Americans worry that inflation and the rising cost of health care are increasing the risk that they will run out of money in retirement.
The survey by the Society of Actuaries found that people already retired were most worried about inflation and affording long-term care. Pre-retirees, meanwhile, ranked affordable health care as their top concern, followed by inflation and long-term care coverage. The study suggests that overall, pre-retirees showed greater worries than those already in retirement.

7:18am: Jo Wischnewski won a pair of tickets to see the Indy Racing League at the Milwaukee Mile on June 1st.

7:48am: Tracy Schroeder of Rosendale qualifed to win tickets see Barefoot In the Park at the Fireside in Fort Atkinson. You can qualify to win tickets every weekday during the Breakfast Club with Wade Bates or The Morning Show with Bob Hoffmaster to qualify to win tickets. Four pair of tickets will be awarded on May 30th on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.

7:52am: A man in Florida was arrested for throwing a bottle at a person playing Mariah Carey music in here car. An argument ensued and the man now faces criminal mischief and shooting a missile into a vehicle charges.

8:04am: A recent survey by CareerBuilder.com has found that 45% of workers have gained weight while employed at their current job. 26% of them say they have put on more than 10 pounds. 12% say they have gained over 20 pounds. 35% of those asked say they eat out for lunch twice or more each week.

Richard May from The Paint Store in Fond du Lac stopped by for his monthly visit. He talked about being safe on the ladder when you start your project outside this summer.
