Breakfast Club - Show #12 - 4/25/08

It's Friday! I hope you've got great plans for the weekend. I'll be spending my weekend at the Packers draft as Green Bay loads up on their latest crop of talent. 6:25am: Brett Favre was on David Letterman last night, Dave grilled Brett on why he hasn't filed retirement papers, and asked him if he'd consider a comeback. Dave said he'd try and arrange it so #4 wouldn't have to practice. Favre also said Randy Moss didn't have anything to do with his decision.

6:40am: The History Vault: In 1792 French robber Nicolas Pelletier was the first person to meet the guillotine...In 1901 New York became the first state to issue license plates...In 1970 ABC by The Jackson 5 was #1 on the music charts...In 1982 Jane Fonda released here first workout video.

6:50am: KFIZ News Quiz Facts: Dorothy Zima was today's winner for knowing that the St. Agnes Foundation sponsors the Samaritan House Home Raffle.

7:18am: Jess Morgan from Westbrook Rental and Repair checked in to give us a preview of their open house on Saturday. The open house will be from 10am to 3pm at the business. Their will be specials on everything in stock. Westbrook Rental and Repair is located off of Highway 23, right behind Wrightway.

7:25am: Celeb Birthdays: Actor Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl) is 38...Actress Renee Zellweger is 39...Actor Al Pacino is 68...Former Harlem Globetrotter Meadowlark Lemon is 76.

Today's local winner of a Culver's Frozen Custard Cake is Pat Friedel of Fond du Lac. He's also now in the drawing for a $500 gift certificate to CW Smith Jewelers in North Fond du Lac. That will be drawn on December 26th.

7:50am: A new study from Oxford has found that women who eat a big breakfast have give birth to more boys than women who skip out on the first meal of the day. The study says that nearly 60% of women surveyed who at a big breakfast gave birth to a son, while 43% of women who skip breakfast had sons. The study examined 740 pregnant women. KFIZ Newsman Bob Nelson thinks that all the dieting trends with women is just part a master plan for females to take over the world.

Also pawn shops across the country are seeing more and more people come in and sell their gold teeth. The rise in the price of gold as seen people put more value on the quick cash than that gold crown they have been sporting.

8:50am: Have you ever dreamed of packing up and moving to a far off land? Well according to real estate consultant Knight Frank, LLP, London is the world's most expensive place to buy a home. The average home price in London increased 29% last year. The average price of property was nearly $6,200 per square foot. In Monoaco property runs $5,800 per square foot. Singapore saw their home prices skyrocket by 31% in 2007 while New York City saw a 25% increase.

If you're looking for a "Sinful" City to move to a Forbes.com study may help you out. The study found that Denver and Salt Lake City are the place for "lust." San Jose was the greediest city while Memphis is the place to be a sloth, glutton and to envy. Detroit tops the wrath catagory. Click HERE for a link to the story.

After Breakfast: 9am-9:30am: Behind The Badge

Officer Steve Olson from the Fond du Lac Police Department was joined by Lt. Steve Klein to discuss Autism and some special training local officers are getting on the condition. April is Autism Awareness Month. The Fond du Lac PD will also be putting on a special public session called "In Case of Emergency: Autism Risk Safety Management" on Tuesday, May 20th from 6:30pm to 8pm at the Marian College Stayer Center. The event is free and the speaker will be Dennis Debbaudt, an interntionally renowned presenter and trainer on autism recognition and response and risk management for law enforcement agencies and emergency first responders.
