Hurry Up & Wait....
That's is the theme of covering an NFL Draft..especially when the Packers pick late as they do this year at #30 in the draft. Ted Thompson has never traded up...and will most likely trade down, but you still need to be in Green Bay at Draft Headquarters in case something would happen.
That means you show up about 1:30pm, for the start of the draft and then sit and watch the festivities on a big screen in the Packers media auditorium, much like you do at your home. They have both the ESPN and the NFL Network feed up in the room we are in. The NFL Network feed is about 10 seconds behind ESPNs.
What do members of the media do while we wait for the Packers...oh..we also eat! The Packers supply lunch and supper for the media so that's an added bonus! Today's lunch menu was top notch...They had grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, and a really good turkey wrap! Good stuff.....I can't wait for dinner at 6pm....food is always on my mind.
They changed the format a bit for the draft this year so we don't have the marathon first round. Teams only get 10 minutes between picks rather than 15 this year, which is moving things along. We site about 1 hr and 2o minutes in and 11 picks have already been made...that is way better than the old days where sometimes it seemed to take two hours to get throught the top 10.
So, I sit and wait at the draft. The Packers pick 3oth, so that pick should come between 5pm and 6pm...and that is barring a trade....CB, OT, or TE are positions GB could take.
For now, that's it from the Packers Draft.
