Ted Thompson Reviews Day 1 of the Draft

Ted Thompson met the media after the Packers made three selections on Friday. Here are some highlights of what he had to say.

...He didn't think Brohm would be there at pick #56.

...He felt that Brohm dropped because his senior year wasn't as good as his junior year, but that could be because of the coaching change.
...The Aaron Rodgers is a pro and it won't bother him that they took a QB in the 2nd round.

...He says there was no need to call Rodgers and explain the pick.

...at 30 he says they traded back because the draft board was still strong and they were able to get another player at #36 and add a pick.

...he wasn't sure if the Jets called them or they called the Jets, but the got the deal done.

...he says that they were trying to trade up in the 2nd round to get Brohm, but couldn't find any takers, but got him anyway.

...CB Patrick Lee is a good player is a tough guy that likes to play bump and run and will fit in nice to the Packer defense and they didn't think he'd be there at 60.

...He says Jordy Nelson can come in and make an impact, even if the Packers have 5 good guys at receiver.
...He had his eye on Nelson and that he doesn't drop many passes.

...Nelson is similar to Koren Robinson body-style and receiving skills and the fans will like him.

....Ted says he got boo'd again when he addressed the fans in the Lambeau Field Atrium.

...He says that Lee wasn't a late bloomer and started just his senior year, but was a good nickel back before that earlier in his career in a good program.

....He says they liked both Brohm and Michigan's Chad Henne but they liked Brohm just a bit better.

....Brohm has a shot at being the Packers #2 QB in 2008 because he's a good football player that has grown up in the game.
